Brogues: The Perforated Classic That Punches Above Its Weight

Brogues are shoes with holes in them — and that's the most reductive but technically accurate description of one of fashion's most enduring footwear styles. The perforations (called 'brogueing') that line the seams, trace the toe cap, and decorate the edges of these shoes were originally functional: they allowed water to drain out during walks across the boggy Irish and Scottish countryside where brogues originated.
